What does your map look like?

The goal of your map is to determine what's right for you, right now, right here. The report offers two types of personalized recommendations.

Promising careers

The first page of your report gives you information about the local economy and local employers, including:

  • job types that are a good fit for you, based on your HiSET performance
  • how many job openings there are per year
  • the average hourly wage in your area

Having this information helps you know where to target your job search and how to be better prepared when you apply for jobs.

College options

With a college degree, you'll most likely make more money. In your report, you'll see a comparison of your potential earnings with and without a college degree. The second page of your report lists two colleges within a 75-mile radius that offer programs you might be interested in, based on your HiSET performance. The report includes:

  • college contact information
  • what programs they offer
  • the average net cost for you
  • a link to apply for student aid

So which path should you take?

Only you know which path is right for you. The College and Career Opportunities Report is meant to show you some of your options.

A popular route for working adults is finding a job in a growing area and going to community college for training. For younger people who may have fewer responsibilities, a certificate program or full-time college might be an easier reach. Your adult education teacher can put you in touch with community college advisors who can help you get started on reaching your goals.
