HiSET® Requirements by State or Jurisdiction

Each state or jurisdiction has its own testing requirements and policies. Some require you to be a minimum age or resident of that state, or to take a preparation course before taking the exam. In addition, fees and retesting rules may vary.

Before you schedule your exam, it's important that you read and understand the policies for the state or jurisdiction where you plan to take it.

If you don't see your state or jurisdiction listed above, it may not offer the HiSET exam yet. Check with your high school equivalency office to see what your test options are.
